What is an MT537?
MT537 is a statement of pending securities transactions. Custodians use it to report instructions that have not completed, together with available processing or settlement statuses and reasons.
Operational checks
Match the account and transaction references, confirm the instrument and quantity, compare intended settlement dates, and interpret status and reason qualifiers against the relevant market or CSD rules. One message can contain multiple pending transactions.
Status codes need context. A pending reason can be market-specific and may change between reports. Use current custodian or CSD documentation for action decisions.
